While I missed the vast majority of the NBA Finals due to internet failure, it would be unfair of me not to pass comment just because the Celtics lost.

 

My ‘Celtics in 6’ theory was well and truly quashed after that game 6 trouncing in LA. As I’ve mentioned before, the team with the best player and the best coach in any series invariably prevails. It also helped that the Lakers defence was the better of the two teams.

 

Paul Pierce was shut down by Artest, Ray Allen was lights out or mediocre, and very little in between. And in the end, while home court advantage was key, it was the Lakers’ ability to bounce back in game 3 in Boston that was the difference. Kudos to LA.


Now bring on the draft and let the free agent bonanza begin!
